Jakarta Government and Yayasan Pendidikan Robotik Indonesia (YPRI) agreed to cooperate on robotic technology education in Jakarta through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) concepts.
Agreement signing is done together by Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan and YPRI Chairman, Wahidin Wahab. It is also witnessed by World Robotic Explorer founder, Jully Tjindrawan.
Headmasters and Teachers Trained to Assemble RobotsJakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan mentioned that science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics are important aspects for Indonesian future generations. Because Indonesian future generation should make Indonesia to be equal with other countries, or even in higher level.
"Thanks to God, today we signed cooperation regarding robotic field," he affirmed at City Hall, Thursday (10/11).
According to him, education can be optimal by giving wide opportunity for children to learn about new things they like. Including robotic education that teaches about creativity and innovation values.
"It can be applied in extracurricular or study tour in schools around Jakarta. Disdik needs to be involved by facilitating and ensuring children to experience its benefits," he explained.
According to him, next generations should learn about moral and good performance aspects. Moral aspects consist of faith and piety, while performance aspects consist of tenacious, tough, thorough, and hard work.
"Literacy is also important. Indeed, it needs a long time hard work. Of course in the future we expect for appreciation and pride," he expressed.
For information, Jakarta Government and YPRI cooperates in five main points. Those are the annual Governor Cup competition for Jakarta Robotics Olympiad, robotics technology education curriculum synchronization.
Then, training for teachers and students regarding robotic solution; robotic technology education extracurricular at elementary, junior high school and senior high school; and study tour to Rumah Robot for elementary, junior high school and senior high school.
